It's free but the event hopes to raise funds for the Monarch Butterfly Trust NZ. Big Dig for Waste Water Work: Construction begins in January on the $91m Rosedale waste water outfall. The 5km underground pipe from the Rosedale Treatment Plant to Mairangi Bay and beyond, will be operational by 2010. This is North Shore City’s largest wastewater project to date, and will ensure the system copes with our city’s population growth to beyond 240,000 by the year 2021. Election Day Close: Election day is now just over a week away and, to be counted, voting papers must be in the hands of the Electoral Officer by no later than noon on Saturday, 13 October. When posting voting documents back it is recommended that these be mailed by no later than 5.00pm, Thursday, 11 October, to guarantee delivery before the close of voting. If you are in any doubt as to whether your voting documents will be received by the Electoral Officer prior to the close of voting, please note they can be hand delivered to Council Headquarters, 1 The Strand, Takapuna, Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5.00pm and on Saturday morning, 13 October, from 8.30am to noon.
New Cycle Way: We have begun work installing new cycle lanes in both directions along Lake Rd between Hauraki Corner and the Owens Rd/Lake Rd intersection. These lanes form part of our strategic cycle network and recent cycle count data has shown this to be the busiest cycle route on the North Shore. Cycle lanes are installed to provide a dedicated space for cyclists on our roads. In addition to the new Lake Rd cycle lanes between Devonport and Takapuna we also have a recreational green cycle route which links parks between Devonport and Takapuna. The route is well suited to recreational and young cyclists.
