Driving down costs: The city is making huge cost savings after a canny decision to convert its car fleet to the most environmentally friendly cars it could find. The move resulted in a shift to Toyota cars, after a hotly contested tender process which took into account not only price, but wider impacts on the community. As a result the Council has saved $1200 per car over the past year and a total off $135,000 in annual fleet running costs. More Information. Waitemata Crossing Study: North Shore City has joined other organisations with responsibility for public transport to explore options for another harbour crossing. The council has made a sizable grant toward the costs of an urgent study of structures and routes which will mesh with town planning on both sides of the harbour. More Information. |
Online services: You can pay parking and transit lane infringements and order property information online. Find out more |

Honouring Art: North Shore City kaumatua and sculptor Arnold Wilson has been feted by the city for his work in the arts. Arnold Wilson is one of New Zealand's most significant forces in contemporary Maori sculpture, and a role model for young Kiwi artists. The city marked Mr Wilson’s achievements with a special ceremony and a presentation. More Information. Hold it a Minute: An archaeological find which may be an ancient midden or rubbish pile continues to disrupt the Lake Road/Esmond Road intersection upgrade, but work should get underway again this month. Reconstruction was suspended when the remnants of early Maori civilisation were found and the Historic Places Trust was called in. Archaeologists and iwi have been on the job and the contractors are proceeding with other work until the go-ahead is given on the site. More Information.
